Looking Back and Looking Forward

Hey Reader!

Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man. Luke 2:52

Let’s apply this same scripture to ourselves as we close out 2025 and look with anticipation to 2026. First, let’s look back. Maybe you want to answer these questions in your journal? (Or you can download a worksheet that we designed just for this exercise HERE.)

In 2025,

  1. How did you grow in wisdom and knowledge? (Maybe you listened to our podcast or attended a conference or completed an online course?)
  2. How did you care for your body? (You drank more water, went for more walks, slept more?)
  3. In what ways did you grow closer to God this year? (You completed a couple of YouVersion plans or spent intentional time in prayer?)
  4. How did you nurture human relationships? (Maybe you sent birthday cards/texts or planned or attended a couple of friend-dinners?)

And tomorrow we enter a new year, a fresh start, a blank slate. I don’t really make resolutions but I like to make a plan, set some goals, and even dream a little. Let’s answer those same questions for 2026 (There’s a space for this on your download HERE)

In 2026,

  1. How will you grow in wisdom and knowledge? What would you like to learn about and how will you do that?
  2. How will you care for your physical well-being? Will you get a new water bottle or maybe a walking buddy?
  3. How will you nurture your relationship with God this year? Do you have a specific book of the Bible you’ve been wondering about? Or maybe a topic you’d like to explore?
  4. How will you deepen your human relationships this year? Who do you need to spend more time with? How will you do that?

At ECCN, we’re praying that you can look back on 2025 with gratitude for God’s faithfulness. And that you’re looking forward to His presence and peace in 2026 as He continues to walk with you on this journey.

Happy New Year!

Cheering you on this week!

Hey Reader! Many of us live in a state of constant exhaustion and overwhelm. Society tells us we need to hustle more and accomplish more and post more and learn more and watch more and know more and do more. Oh, and also…all of that “more” should probably be “better” too, because Sassy Sally over there is doing it better! And Jesus says “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart,...

Hey Reader! Bodies develop from the center out. That means one of the last things that children have really good control over is their fine-motor muscles – fingers, hands and wrists are part of this! Today, we’re giving you a few easy ideas to practice fine motor control with fun and low stress! Remember…this is not something any of the children in our care will master while they’re with us, but we can definitely get them on their way to being fabulous writers and maybe a few seamstresses or...
